Apply DTF Transfers with a Cricut EasyPress

The Cricut EasyPress is the perfect middle ground between a household iron and a commercial heat press. Consistent heat, controlled pressure, and home-friendly. InkMerge DTF transfers work beautifully with all EasyPress models (Mini, 2, 3, EasyPress 12×10).

What You Need

  • InkMerge DTF transfer (precut, ready-to-press)
  • Cricut EasyPress (any model)
  • Cricut EasyPress Mat (or similar heat-resistant mat)
  • Garment
  • Parchment paper or Teflon sheet

Settings Quick Reference

Temperature 325°F (163°C)
Time 20 seconds
Pressure Medium-firm (full body weight)
Peel Cold peel

Note: 325°F is slightly higher than a heat press because the EasyPress applies less consistent pressure across the surface.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Set EasyPress to 325°F (163°C). Use the temperature buttons on the device. Wait until the indicator light shows the press is ready (about 30 seconds for EasyPress 2/3).
  2. Prepare a heat-resistant surface. Use the Cricut EasyPress Mat on a hard, flat surface (kitchen counter, table). Avoid ironing boards — they're too soft and absorb pressure.
  3. Pre-press garment for 5 seconds. Apply the EasyPress directly on the garment to flatten and remove moisture. This is critical for adhesion.
  4. Position the transfer flat. Place the DTF transfer with the matte (printed) side down on the garment. Smooth the carrier film with your fingers to remove any air bubbles.
  5. Press for 20 seconds with medium pressure. Apply your full body weight evenly through the EasyPress. For designs larger than the EasyPress base, move it in a 1-inch overlapping pattern, pressing each section for 20 seconds.
  6. Cold peel. Lift the EasyPress and wait 30-60 seconds for the transfer to cool completely. Then slowly peel the carrier film at a low angle.
  7. Optional second press. Cover the design with parchment, press another 5 seconds at 325°F for added durability and a softer hand feel.

EasyPress Model Notes

  • EasyPress Mini — Great for small chest logos, hat designs, and Baby Bodysuits. Multi-pass for anything larger than 3.5 inches.
  • EasyPress 2 (6×7 or 9×9) — Most versatile. Single pass for hats, small chest logos, baby items. Multi-pass for adult shirts.
  • EasyPress 3 (9×9) — Same size as EasyPress 2 with Bluetooth temperature control via the Cricut app.
  • EasyPress 12×10 — Largest format, single-pass for most adult designs.

Troubleshooting Cricut EasyPress Issues

Edges lifting after first wash? Pressure was too light. Use full body weight; don't just rest your arms on the press.

Design looks faded? Either temperature was too low (verify EasyPress is set to 325°F, not the default 315°F for HTV) or time was too short (need full 20 seconds).

Carrier film won't peel? Wait longer. Cold peel means waiting until the transfer is at room temperature — could be 60+ seconds.

EasyPress won't reach 325°F? Some older EasyPress 1 models max out at 315°F. Press for 25 seconds at 315°F to compensate.

Hot spots on design? EasyPress has uneven heat at the edges. Move the press in a small circle to even out coverage.

Best For

Cricut EasyPress is ideal for:

  • Crafters who already own one
  • Hobbyists making 5-50 shirts at a time
  • Etsy sellers with small/medium order volume
  • Home users who want better results than an iron

For 100+ shirts per day, invest in a commercial heat press for speed.
